As Principal, it is my pleasure to warmly greet all members of our community, the new, returning and visiting. We proudly uphold our Catholic values and cherish our unity as one family. Importantly, we recognise the courageous and humble Sisters of St Joseph who founded the school and served the community 60 years ago, providing Catholic education for Wyndham and surrounds.
It has been wonderful to start work with EON, to create an edible community garden, supporting integrated curriculum learning, sustainability and environmental stewardship. Our early years classrooms embrace play-based learning, nurturing the curious minds of our youngest students. Additionally, working with (WELA) Wyndham Early Learning Activity community group, we are thrilled to offer Playgroup, fostering parent, child engagement and early childhood development within a supportive community.
At St. Joseph’s, we strive to innovate and enhance learning experiences, preparing our students for present and future endeavors. Our 1:1 iPad program empowers students in the use and understanding of digital tools for autonomy and personal growth. Moreover, our commitment to learning on-country enriches our understanding and appreciation of the land where our school and community live and play.
Our school stands proudly on Balanggarra country- Balanggarra meaning “one mob together for country”, the definition aligns beautifully with the tradition of the care for others that the Sisters actively modelled since St Joseph’s foundation. Today we continue to accept students, families and teachers from across indigenous lands and beyond. After consideration of community and available language teachers, we initiated a Ngarinyin language program this year. We extend a heartfelt invitation to all people to come and experience the beauty of our surroundings and the warmth of our community.
